Setting Son

Setting Son

As the world turns a young man’s heart burns due to the indigestion called neglect,
He pawned the trust he gained from a select few and now life’s hit men have come to collect,
See he has been struggling with his sexual identity, wondering which side of the plate to bat from,
On the island his family sent him to, he took drug sponsored trips that he still has trouble coming back from,
With a support staff that was all but non-existent, he chased becoming a nobody with persistence,
His father lost hope early, too concerned with getting himself inside the gates that are pearly,
His mother passed him off to whomever was open, preferring to be an accessory than the holder of the gun that’s smoking’,
His big brother got bigger issues, at least that’s the impression he gives,
It’s almost as if they don’t give a damn if this young man lives, to become more than nothing,
Like in this poker game of life, they think all he doing is bluffing,
But he suffering, cuz stepping out of that dark closest aint easy when the crucifixion awaits,
From the many branches of his family tree that are known for looking down those that are less than great,
So his plate remains void of the nutrients needed to function in society,
Like going to meetings at a liquor store for help with maintaining your sobriety,
In his mind, his only escape comes, from the comfort of another male’s arms, and drug binges,
Stuck in a dark cramped closest with the skeletons of his hypocritical family members, forcing the door off its hinges,
Now, what should be done to save this setting son?
A family meeting, an intervention, or an all out verbal attack,
Anything is better than nothing, cuz you see how he handled that.
