My Hands Are Raised

My Hands Are Raised

Let’s talk…/ let’s talk about the way to walk / the way to jaunt when one wasn’t taught at home / I’ll give you my insight and hope and pray that its clearer than hindsight / bullet proofs, badges and glocks have brought many of innocent victims into the limelight / inspired many of speeches and rhymes, right? / Lootings, riots, and general crimes right? / humanitarian efforts fall by the wayside; when one lays motionless face down in the street / you see his daddy never taught him how to properly greet an adrenaline rushing officer on his beat,  with his gun in hand and blinders on because he’s heard a few aggressive songs… on the radio / not realizing that Radio needs his help and he deserves not be shot or jailed / said officer rebels against all his official training and unrepresses  repressed desires to set afire, any complexion that’s different from him / my hands are raised , my hands are raised…the Lord said let vengeance belong to HIM / but the street lights  are getting dimmed and my mother is calling me home, but the brothers are egging me on / because its wrath that they seek / blood leaches through these streets providing subsistence and motivation to the unguided mentalities who feel that it’s pointless to speak …/ out against injustice, for they only understand raising their hand to speak / Because their daddies never taught them how to properly respond to an officer on his beat / or how to properly respond to an atrocity witnessed on these streets / so their neighborhoods become the burning flesh of the sinner whom they’ve yet to meet or know / so the hostility grows and the bubbles turn into boils and the rolling boils turn into flames and misplace anger Reigns supreme / while the perpetrators sit back and relax in anonymity  / safe from rage that their actions have caused, whether by choice or accident / you see the side effects of being a male of African descent in America is deadly / whether we are walking, driving, our life is on the line / whether degreed or felon, the justice system seems less than compelling to seek out our aggressors / whether trade worker or professor the justice system seems less than motivated to seek out our aggressors / so when we seek out other means which may not be ideal which causes them bring in the heavy artillery , which apparently they have on standby / makes me wonder why? / there must be a systemic issue where people with perceived power plot and scheme against certain individuals / you have bullet proof vests, guns, grenades and tanks / I have my hands raised in honor of the fallen, but a victim I’ll never be because my words are not just poetry / I will not burn my home or rob my neighbor, I will not wait for a savior / so please tread cautiously because that rolling boil is almost a conflagration, the underbelly is swelling…Father please guide this nation /
